Monticope Suspension is a Fix dose Drug Combination (FDC) used in the treatment of allergic symptoms of runny nose or nasal congestion or stuffiness, sneezing, itching, swelling, watery eyes. It also reduces inflammation in the respiratory tract and make breathing easier.

This FDC Suspension should take with or without a meal in a dose and duration as advised by the doctor/pharmacist. The dose depends on your child’s condition and how child respond to the medicine. As parent, you should keep taking this FDC medicine for as long as your doctor/pharmacist recommends. Let your doctor/pharmacist know about all other lines of medications you are taking.

USES:

• Hay fever
• Nasal congestion or stuffiness (runny nose, stuffy nose)
• Allergic skin conditions
• Itching or swelling

SIDE EFFECTS:

Most of the side effects of this FDC are temporary and usually resolve with time, do not require any medical attention. Contact your doctor/pharmacist straight away if your child is told you about any of these side effects given below. 

• Diarrhea
• Dryness in mouth
• Fatigue
• Headache
• Nausea
• Skin rash
• Sleepiness
• Vomiting

Note: Consult your doctor/pharmacist if they persist or if you are worried about any side effects for your child.

HOW TO USE:

Take this FDC in the dose and duration as per directions of your doctor/pharmacist. This FDC Suspension may be taken with or without a meal, but it is better to take it at the same time of every day of the prescribed duration.

Mode of Action

This FDC Suspension is a combination of two medicines: Levocetirizine and Montelukast, Levocetirizine is an antiallergic that blocks a chemical messenger/ inflammatory marker such as histamine. which is responsible for many allergic conditions like runny nose, watery eyes, and sneezing. Montelukast is a leukotriene antagonist. The mode of action of montelukast is inhibiting the inflammatory marker like leukotrienes to reduces inflammation such as swelling/ edema in the respiratory tract and nasal cavity and improves symptoms.
